Dear Brothers in Christ, our Lord,

It is with deep sorrow that we received the news of the passing away of our beloved Brother in Christ and concelebrant Christodoulos, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, an outstanding personality of both universal Orthodoxy and the entire Christendom and a close friend of the Romanian Orthodox Church and of the Romanian people.

On behalf of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church and of the clergy and the faithful from Romania, we share in the sorrow caused by this event and convey to the hierarchs, the clergy and the faithful of the Sister Orthodox Church of Greece our sincere condolences, praying that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest, repose his soul among the righteous and grant to the entire Orthodox people of Greece His comfort and strength in their faith.
