Oricând te văd

Dacă nu te-ai grăbi,
ce bine am fi!
Am călători mereu cu ochii
și cu inimile,
am călători cu tot ceea ce suntem
până la epuizare.
Ne-am bea ceaiul alături
de o prăjitură surprinzătoare.
Am asculta sunetul înalt al tăcerii,
ne-am spune pe nume,
ne-am înțelege,
ne-am iubi de când lumea.
Dar tu te grăbești tot timpul!
Te grăbești cu graba din tine.
Te grăbești și când vorbești
și când te așezi undeva.
Pentru că tu nu trăiești isihast,
nu trăiești pentru ca să te odihnești
în slava lui Dumnezeu,
ci alergi ca ideologia veacului tău.
Ești nestatornic, credul, asculți minciunile
despre mine și despre tine,
apeși pe accelerație,
apeși pe emoție în detrimentul cugetării.
O, ce bine ar fi,
dacă te-ai liniști!
Ne-am regăsi amândoi pe același drum,
am fi prieteni de când lumea,
ne-am spune pe nume,
am avea aceeași rugăciune palpitând în
inima noastră.

If you didn’t hurry,
how good we’d be!
We would always travel with the eyes
and with the hearts,
we would travel with everything we are
until exhaustion.
We would drink our tea alongside
a surprising cake.
We would listen to the high sound of silence,
we would call each other by name,
we would understand each other,
we would love each other since the world.
But you are in a hurry all the time!
You hurry with the haste within you.
You hurry both when you speak
and when you sit down somewhere.
Because you do not live as a hesychast,
you do not live to rest in the glory of God,
but you run like the ideology of your age.
You are fickle, gullible, you listen to lies
about me and about you,
you press the accelerator,
you press on emotion
to the detriment of thought.
Oh, how good it would be,
if you would calm down!
We would both find ourselves
on the same road,
we would be friends since the world,
we would call each other by name,
we would have the same prayer
palpitating in our heart.
