Sermon on the Monday of the Holy Ghost [2026]

My beloveds[1],

today we „celebrate the Mostholy, life-giving and all-powerful Ghost Himself, One in Trinity, God, of one honor, one being and one glory with the Father and the Son”[2]. For He descended into the first christian community and founded the Church, giving them, those who believed in God, to feel Him within them, because the glory they received was the glory of our triune God. And the Ghost, descending into His faithful people, descended together with the Father and the Son, because the glory they received is the glory of the Mostholy Trinity. Therefore, in the Church of Romania, it is emphasized that this day is the day of the Mostholy Trinity, because the Holy Ghost, by His descent into us at Pentecost, descended together with the Father and the Son, because He gave us the glory of the Mostholy Trinity[3].

And the Ghost descended in the Holy Apostles at the 3rd hour of the day, while they were together in prayer. He descended in the 12 Holy Apostles, but also in the 70 Holy Apostles and they began to speak in foreign languages, understanding what they were saying, being intelligible to their listeners from other nations[4]. The Holy Ghost descended and remained in them. He remained in the Church of God. And the Church of God was founded in the morning, because the 3rd hour of the day is 9 o’clock in the morning[5]. And we begin our day early in the morning in order to make ourselves proper God’s will. Because He calls us to do His will from the first moment of the day, because His will is our salvation and sanctification[6].

But the Holy Ghost, although He is in us, we always call Him to come and dwell in us. Because He is in His Church, but at the same time, we constantly call Him to come in us. Because we want Him to always be in us, together with the Father and the Son. And His call is not an indifference on our part to His presence in us, but a living desire to receive even greater His glory in us. For His call in us is the testimony of our love for Him. And His call is also His even deeper feeling in us, because He is in us and with us together with the Father and the Son. For our triune God, through His glory, dwells in us and we are aware of this and always rejoice with our God[7].

Where is your God?, the unbelievers ask us. And our loving answer is this: our God is in us by His glory, but above all existence by His being. For He, by His glory, sustains the whole creation in existence, but, at the same time, He dwells in each of us, who are faithful to Him. And, being in us and with us, we never feel alone, excluded, abandoned, because He, our God, the Maker of all, is with each of us, who believe in Him and do His will daily. He is with us and no one is against us[8].

How is no one against you, when demons are always fighting against you? Yes, they fight against us and our salvation, but no one can defeat us, because God’s mercy is with us. The only one who could be against us is God Himself, but He is with us and in us through His glory. The demons are fallen creatures from the glory of God, who are envious of our life with God. They fight against us. But our great and eternal help is God. He is with us and no one can be against us, because He is our salvation and sanctification[9].

But the great battle of the demons is on the sacramental life of the Church. Because the presence of the Holy Ghost in the Church or of our triune God in His Church means the Holy Mysteries and the Holy Services of the Church. Through the sacramental life of the Church we always receive His glory, His eternal life. Therefore, the minimalization of the Church is the great battle of demons, so that people will distance themselves from the living source of divine grace. The invention of „churches” is part of the minimalization of the Church, as are demonic attacks on the Church hierarchy. Because God works through His Servants and their minimalization means our distancing ourselves from them to our detriment[10].

If we minimalize doctors and no longer believe in their help, we die with days. Likewise, if we no longer believe in the help of Priests, we die in our sins, when we could confess and die a christian death. The minimalization of the Church and its sacramental life means our descent into Hell, because the Church is our only escape. The members of the Church hierarchy are sinners, everyone has their own sins, but we must seek their service through which we receive the glory of God in us. If we look at the sins of the Church hierarchy, we lose the glory of God that descends into us through their prayer and service. And this is what the demons want: for us to confuse the Church hierarchy with the presence of God in the Church. Because God works through His Servants, but He gives us His life through them, regard- less of how sinful they are[11].

I have confessed to several Duhovniks in my churchly life and have always felt the same grace of God who forgave me of my sins. Because the same grace descends through all His Servants. If we want to be saved, then we do not look at the life of the Priests who confess us, but at the great mercy of God, Who forgives us of our sins through His Priests. And His forgiveness is our life. And without His glory in us, without His grace, we do not feel the life of God that descends and is in His Church. And that is why many say that they felt nothing or not much when they were at Church: because they did not first cleanse themselves of their sins at Duhovnik, and then to live a christian life at the Church Services. We do not feel it, because we do not truly prepare ourselves for the great encounter with God[12].

Those who saw the charism of speaking in tongues were amazed by it [Acts of the Apostles 2, 13, BYZ], but the scoffers said that the  Saints of God were full of sweet new wine [A. Ap. 2, 14, BYZ], that they were drunk. Because each one relates to the miracle according to his  spiritual state. But Saint Petros, in his word, tells them that now the prophecy of Saint Ioil [Ἰωήλ] has been fulfilled, because God has poured out from His Ghost in those who are faithful to Him [A. Ap. 2, 16-17, BYZ]. Because this descent of the Holy Ghost into people had been prophesied long before. And all of God’s things are prepared beforehand, so that people may understand His will with them. And His will with us is to be faithful to Him and to be filled with His glory, so that we may live in holiness on earth[13].

The encounter with God, my beloveds, is ghostual, because He gives us to feel His glory! If we feel His glory within us, then we have met Him and we live with Him. If we do not feel it, we must repent of our sins and ask for His forgiveness, in order to feel His glory within ourselves. Amin[14]!

[4] Idem, p. 344.

[5] Cf. https://ro.orthodoxwiki.org/Ceasurile.

Amin!

Sermon at Pentecost [2026]

My beloveds[1],

God is the One who brought us together! Because His Church was formed by the descent of the Holy Ghost, of the glory of the Holy Ghost in the Holy Apostles and in the faithful of the Lord. And today, on Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the birthday of the christian Church, when the descent of the Ghost in the Holy Apostles made them all-wise [πανσόφους][2], for they needed this holy wisdom to turn the nations to God. Because when God gives us the wisdom of theology, when He teaches us His will with us, He makes us responsible for the salvation of all. For He gives us the wisdom to convert others for the good of all, for the salvation of all[3].

The Holy Apostles were together in prayer, they were waiting for the fulfillment of the Lord’s promise, that they would be clothed „[with] power from on height [δύναμιν ἐξ ὕψους]” [Lucas 24, 49, BYZ] and they received „tongues like fire [γλῶσσαι ὡσεὶ πυρός], and sat in each [of] them [ἐκάθισέν τε ἐφ᾽ ἕνα ἕκαστον αὐτῶν]. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost [Καὶ ἐπλήσθησαν ἅπαντες Πνεύματα Ἁγίου] and began to speak [in] other languages [καὶ ἤρξαντο λαλεῖν ἑτέραις γλώσσαις], as the Ghost gave them to speak [καθὼς τὸ Πνεῦμα ἐδίδου αὐτοῖς ἀποφθέγεσθαι]” [Acts 2, 3-4, BYZ]. The reception of the Ghost was internal, because each one received His glory within himself. And each one was enlightened and prompted by God the Holy Ghost in what language to speak for the benefit of the people[4].

From Pentecost the tongues of the gentiles become liturgical, because God wants us to speak in them for the salvation of people. Those who are separated unite in His one Church, they become one, because the glory of God is what unites us with each other in His Church. And His Church becomes from Pentecost the center of the world, the place of unity of all humanity, because we all become one in the Church of God, His one people. But participation in the one Church of God does not abolish the nation to which you belong, because every nation and language must become christian, must serve the will of God[5].

The Lord was incarnated from the Virgin, became an israelite after His human birth, but His Church is not only for Israil, but for all humanity. Because the Father, through the Son, into the Holy Ghost, filled the Holy Apostles with the glory of the Trinity at Pentecost so that the whole world could become His Church. And His Church is multinational, but each nation lives its own particular relationship with God. Just as each person lives his relationship with God in His Church, according to his age and understanding. For neither the infant, nor the child, nor the adolescent, nor the mature, nor the elderly, nor the person with serious illnesses is excluded from the life with God, because all are part of His Church through Baptism[6].

The Pentecost is the birthday of the Church, but the descent of the Holy Ghost into the Church meant His abiding in the Church forever. Because the glory of our triune God descends into every person at his sacramental Baptism and makes him a christian. The sacramental life of the Church, that is, the Holy Mysteries and the Holy Services of the Church, are the descent of God’s glory into us, into His Church, endlessly. We rejoice every day in the descent of His glory into us, because our ecclesial life is a continuous Pentecost, a continuous reception and abiding of His glory in us. Therefore, the reliving of Pentecost is very at hand for us, because we always live with God within ourselves, because we are full of His eternal glory[7].

But before we share with the Lord, we say together the Creed of the Church. For the truth of the Church is what holds us together. God’s revelation is His truth, and His truth must be lived and confessed in its entirety by us, in order to share with the Lord. The sharing with Him is, in essence, the living of His entire truth. Because we are filled with His eternal glory in order to understand and confess with godliness His entire truth. The divine godliness is the ghostual state in which we are filled with the glory of the eucharistic Hristos. Because, having Him in us, we are in a continuous interior humbleness towards Him, towards the One who is in us through His glory. We are in continuous gentleness and delicacy and joy towards our Lord[8].

The descent of the Holy Ghost into the first christian community was an inexpressible joy for them, as it is for us at our sacramental Baptism and on all the days when we enjoy great outpourings of God’s glory in our person. We are filled with holy joy when we have divine experiences, and God’s enlightenments are our straightenings on His path. Because we must be guided unceasingly in our life with God. And He, either directly through His glory, or through the Saints, through the Angels, through His men, through our Duhovniks teaches us His things, so that we know how to live our lives. Because the Church is at the same time our life with God, but also our continuous guidance by Him to live christianly[9].

„The Holy Ghost gives everything: He springs prophecies, He perfects priests [ἱερέας τελειοῖ], He taught the unlettered wisdom, He showed the fishermen theologians [ἁλιεῖς θεολόγους ἀνέδειξεν], He fulfills the entire order of the Church”[10]. For the Holy Ghost, Who is of one being and of one throne with the Father and the Son[11], perfects everything in His Church, so that we may be filled with holiness and holy joy. For it is not enough to appear proper or moral in the Church of God, but we must be filled with His holiness. Because He, the All-Holy One, wants us to be Holy too, so that we may enjoy His holiness for eternity[12].

And when we speak of sanctification or blessing in the Church, we speak of the sanctifying work of God in His Church. Because God sanctifies everything in His Church through the service of the hierarchy of His Church. The hierarchy of the Church is constitutive of it. We cannot renounce the Servants of the Church, just as we cannot renounce the Services and the faith of the Church. Everything that belongs to the Church is from God and the entire existence and service of the Church is for our salvation. Therefore, for us the Church is our way of being and thinking, because the will of God is our way of being[13].

And to live churchly means to live communionally. Because we live in communion with God and with His Saints and Angels, but also with our confreres in service and faith. And to live communionally means to live with care for our salvation, for all, and with holy delicacy in the relationships between us. For when you live with God, you want to pray and serve in peace, to highlight the good things, that unite us. Churchly life is fraternal. Churchly life is holy joy for all and co-service with all. Because the glory of God teaches us fraternal life, co-work of all for the service of God and people[14].

If you do not have the Ghost of communion within you, you cannot be a man of communion. For the Ghost of God teaches us how to enjoy everyone and love everyone. He who is eternally together with the Father and the Son also teaches us the life of communion, the life of holiness. Because God wants us to be His Saints, to be those filled with all His peace and holiness, those who do His will eternally. Amin[15]!

[10] Cf. Penticostar, Ed. IBMBOR, București, 1999, p. 314/ https://glt.goarch.org/texts/Pen/p49.html.

[11] Ibidem/ Ibidem.

[12] „Pe toate le dă Duhul Sfânt: izvorăște profeții, desăvârșește preoții [ἱερέας τελειοῖ], pe cei necărturari i-a învățat înțelepciune, pe pescari i-a arătat teologi [ἁλιεῖς θεολόγους ἀνέδειξεν], toată rânduiala Bisericii o plinește”.

Amin!

Fragrance

(novel)

*

The man’s negligence has to do with his wife. Mother’s Ionel says what his wife says. Even though he doesn’t like her food, he says what his wife says. Even though they have so many children and it’s getting harder, if his wife wants it, then he wants it too. Because he understood from his mother that he must listen to his wife, not have anything to say in front of her. And she, with her temperament as a woman who has not been loved long enough, demands love upon love, demands guarantees upon guarantees of love, and he, to please her, says what his woman says. Into a day of Saturday, in the evening, he says what his wife says. And what does his woman say? That’s the question, actually! That his wife, miffed, picky, coquette, the YouTube creator Eliza, doesn’t say much, but she leaves it up to you to understand, to deduce, to figure it out. And, just as she educates her public, so she educates her husband: through allusions, through parables. She immediately makes a video, says some things that don’t make much sense and demands that the public understand her. If they don’t understand her, they’re not of her nose. If I understand her, it means they are the disciples of her online school, where she strives to teach the world. And, without ever having been a teacher, Eliza has university airs, because she’s a born self-taught. She understands each one in her own way, Ionel must do at place the command, the children the same, because Eliza dictates and initials.

That if it hadn’t been told, others wouldn’t have read it. And if it hadn’t been revealed, others would have lied too. And if it hadn’t, maybe yes, that’s what you say, but she doesn’t want to, that’s what he knows, maybe not, she says, maybe you say too. And the narration, gentlemen and ladies, does not end when the reading public wants it to, but when the one who writes it wants it to! For he, who has assumed his coming, through writing, to you, is like flowers placed in a vase: they smell both from close and from far away with the same thrilling. Because the readers understand a great author only when the author has at least one critic to match him. And when the literary critic is able to see the essential in an author, then his writings truly begin to live. Until then they are covered by a veil, by misunderstanding. But when you see beyond the words, when you understand who the author is, then you share with people the truth of his writings. His parents, relatives, friends, teachers, the author’s, don’t tell you much about him. But when the literary critic descends into the text, when he makes the source a living spring, then everything becomes clear. That you ate with the author at the table, that you saw him, that he smiled at you, that he said a few words to you, it doesn’t matter at all. You have to say words about his fundamental things, about his work, and as to say, you must see the author in his work. Because various acquaintances talk to you, leave, they are not changed at all by meeting you. Whoever changes when meeting you is the one who understands you deeply. Who can read your work from the inside.

That one said that the writers rush and rushing is one of their biggest mistakes. But I think rushing is part of the novel. Because we don’t know what we will write until the rush appears, until the need arises to immediately write what we have within ourselves.  The formulation is the child within ourselves, which we give birth unexpectedly to no one, sometimes harder, sometimes easier. And when the novel becomes technical, when it tends to become scrupulous grammar to the detriment of reality, we are not dealing with a forest of calophilia, but with a sample of naivety. And how can you believe that the truth can be written better than its naturalness? The flower we put in a vase is the naturalness we need. More or less of it is not accepted. If I paint it, I move towards the idea, towards my thought. But the flower as a flower is smell, it is beauty, it is naturalness, it is my keeping up with the season, with what I know about the meadow. And when I smelled the freshly threshed threshing floor, the straw warmed by the sun, I knew that my summer was at its zenith. That I’m walking around and enjoying my vacation, but that it will end soon. For I am a free being, far too free, but who has her own secret work, as long as I am learning within myself. And just as the silkworm transforms into a cocoon, I, learning, enjoyed the astonishing changes within myself, those that told me that, by learning, I was passing into other stages of my life, which were not at all like the previous ones.

Floarea Țuțuianu,

The power of words[1]

If I had known the power of words,

I wouldn’t have written. Never.

Maybe this way God would have turned

His face towards me.

And suddenly I would become. Humble.

I would have bowed my head down to Your feet.

Only the words do not turn against me.

To learn to say YES –

Thy will be done. Never No.

I would have prayed

that I wouldn’t be so preoccupied

with myself that I forgot about You.

And then I wouldn’t have suddenly grown old.

I wouldn’t have suddenly become wise.

The words wouldn’t have turned against me.

Hurting me so badly.

Waiting for the wounds to bloom in.

Waiting. Watchfulness.

At the traffic lights. To see green

and be able to cross

to the other side by the hand with You.

And in your eyes to be young and beautiful.

And dry and lean meat to become

tender and fragrant. Stench.

Why so much anxiety, fear and dread,

when in every Akathist it is said:

„Rejoice, white lily that has sprung up

in the garden above!

Rejoice, very beautiful fragrant rose!

Rejoice, Flower –

you who are a flower among flowers!”?

Why so much anxiety, fear, dread,

when you don’t remember the trauma?

It could be an intrauterine trauma

when someone keeps tickling you

with a twisted object only,

only you’ll be a blood stain,

but you don’t and don’t…

And with this No

with which you sealed your body,

devoid of pleasure, of joy,

whipped so as WHAT?

To show that what is impossible is possible?

That is it possible what is against nature?

Why transform so much sensitivity,

beauty into hardness and strength?!

When you are the most wounded

and you are waiting

for the wound to blossom.

Nicolae Coande[2], Ode to garbage[3]

(Speech upon receiving

the No/Bel[4] Prize for Po[5]Heresy)

Majestet,

Dine kongelige Høyhet,

Mine Damer og Herrer[6],

Good people,

I am certainly overwhelmed

by the honor that was given to me

(I specifically use the simple perfect

to specify the area where I come from[7]).

This award is undeserved considering

how many romanian poets

can receive it.

I want to thank my parents

for their patience in having a stone

in the house, year after year,

one that reads, writes, and, of course,

is capable of growing moss on the north side.

Preoccupied with moving forward disguised

rather than showing his true face.

To the family that supported me all these years

when the garbage had to be evacuated.

Maybe the garbage was me.

I come from a country

where a lot of garbage is produced.

A country where the garbage is increasing

day by day.

At high, medium and minimum level,

and I’m not even talking about

the underground garbage.

Thank you to my country for its ability

to produce unlimited garbage!

The brilliance of this day makes me forget

for a moment its profound garbage.

I want to raise my glass

and toast to the garbage of the world.

For its ever-increasing share who nailed me

in my poetry at its base.

In the waiting of a verse that no longer comes,

of the inspiration that was delayed.

Blocked perhaps by the garbage

of my country, of the world,

or perhaps by some unknown obstacle.

The garbage, even if you don’t believe me,

produces poetry, it is fruitful.

It helped me in the fight with sterility.

A world without garbage

is just that sterile.

Inefficient, aseptic,

it produces only satisfaction,

and we, the poets,

must always be dissatisfied.

Not infrequently in conflict with

the garbage collectors,

who come to pick it up,

but today I reconcile with them.

And I thank them for the organized opposition

to writing poetry.

That’s good for poetry, as you’ll never know.

I raise this glass of trash to our health, everyone!

Zoë Hitzig[1],

Algoritmul regretului limitat[2]

A mea este o viață dedicată

calculării pierderii.

Nu știu cu certitudine

aproape nimic.

Și totuși, iată-mă aici,

luând legiuni de decizii în fiecare clipă.

Scopul meu este să-mi organizez

registrele aidoma unui craniu.

Un loc pe care mi-l imaginez plin.

De foi de calcul

care ocupă locuri precum orașele.

Funcții nedefinite

care se compilează perfect.

Explorează, înregistrează,

explorează, înregistrează,

explorează, înregistrează.

În cele din urmă,

învăț să limitez pierderea.

Ajung să știu unde

nu ar trebui să merg:

scara de incendiu,

coduri poștale cu impozite mici

pe proprietate,

unele medicamente,

unele locuri de muncă.

Apoi pragul dincolo

de care sunt doar un avion.

Ocazional zbor pe rute noi,

dar nu încarc niciodată

mai mult de câteva sute de pasageri.

Nici să nu avansez în secvența cerului

care vibrează

în spatele cerului

pe care deja l-am văzut.

Niciodată pilotul care se dezbracă

într-o suburbie

după ce zborul s-a terminat.

Apăsând o mână neînchisă

pe fereastra rece a dormitorului.

Ana Săndulescu[3],

Discipline is the only acceptable

form of quietness[4]

In the morning,

people in the elevator avoid eye contact

as after something said too close.

You introduce each other to see

if anything alive remains between the floors,

and someone feels the need to say

that he was there before you.

Parents leaf through the newspaper

and stop at your photo,

as if they were holding in their hands

the fragile proof that life can be moved

to another city without breaking definitively.

Online, seventy likes, then the flow continues

with disappearances, minor accidents,

lost dogs and discounts on household appliances.

The world moves on without noticing

that you had, however, an important day.

Discipline is an acceptable form of quietness.

At squash you hit the ball with

disproportionate energy,

as if you were trying to straighten

something invisible.

In the office, a banal conversation

leaves behind a metallic taste and

the sensation that some functions

are just seats occupied long enough.

A resume begins to be written

in your head that resembles a breakup letter.

The day, secretly,

resembles with a small victory.

You buy secondhand clothes

for your grandparents,

convinced that care is collected in cotton

and in buttons that have survived other lives.

At home you water the plants.

They don’t ask you what your plans are

or if you’re happy, they just grow,

and that starts to seem like

a higher form of intelligence.

The city announces a cyclone

that is not coming.

Parents retrieve their children,

supermarkets empty out,

and you arrive home with the feeling

that you avoided something important,

even though the storm almost

never comes as promised.

You cook salmon, you kill digital monsters,

clean little revenges, perfectly acceptable.

The cat seems to die for a bit, then comes back

and forgives you without explanation,

which makes it

the most mature being in the house.

You light two candles in the bathroom,

not for atmosphere,

but as a repetition of an older version

that believed in rituals.

On the bedside table,

the books pile up

like alternative lives tried before sleep.

Discipline is a form of quietness.

In interviews you are generous

and coherent.

In reality, you save energy

as if it were money set aside

for an unnamed emergency.

In the evening,

the life happens a little later.

You fall asleep early.

Almost ashamed of how much fatigue

can fit into a body that hasn’t done

anything spectacular.

Today you wrote fifteen hundred words.

The rest of the time you learned

what life looks like when

you don’t turn it into text,

but carry it with you,

discreetly, like a scent that lingers

on your clothes long after you’ve left the room

and closed the door.

Simona Gabriela Carp[1], Nobel

If there were Nobel Prizes for naivety,

I would win them all,

because I believed in my role in curing you

of foreign bodies.

I gave you the best part of the importance,

because you chronically needed the attention

of those around you more than I needed you,

because you craved what you were

not built to feel.

If there were Nobel Prizes for acting,

you would win them all

with a reality-distorted harshness,

because you thought

I would be just another blonde

in your low-budget movie,

on your memory foam mattress,

and I became just another dwarf

on your brain.

And now,

here we both have decent friends

on neuro-social networks,

but none that we’re even in.

We’ve become

two alienated modern dwarfs.

Paula Maftei[2], Carabinieri female

It can’t get any better than that.

To hold on to the illusion of freedom,

with the confidence of a tall man

who only half understands

what you’re saying.

I can do whatever I want,

anytime, with anyone,

as long as they leave me

a little space where I can gnaw

on the bone quietly,

like the street dog from the North Station,

the last bucharester left at liberty.

There’s a recidivist cephalopod in me,

he likes the nightlife,

he also likes mornings.

Especially in the summer,

when you hear the crickets,

my heart becomes a bread oven,

which those deprived of their liberty

can’t get enough of.

I can’t do whatever I want,

anytime, with anyone.

There is a sadness in me

that the clairvoyant Luminița

does not understand.

Where this sadness comes from I don’t know,

madam,

on cold days it slips down the chimney,

I can’t do anything about it,

I say, it’s a carabinieri female,

I’m safe with it, otherwise it’s fine.

Under the house of skin and bones,

the jasmine grows like in the old days

in the yard.

When blood flows, I don’t tell anyone.

It’s a habit learned with great delicacy.

And what woman doesn’t want to be delicate,

when the ground is crumbling beneath her feet

and her ribs are aching and everything hurts?
