Sermon on the 12th Sunday after Pentecost [2026]
My beloveds[1],
there are tops of the rich, in which specifies how much each person has. But the richest of all is God, because all that is ours is His. We pride ourselves on His things, on the things He has given us, pretending not to understand that they are His and not ours. But He is the richest of all and He gives much wealth to all. But the true wealth is spiritual wealth, it is the one within our soul, because that is the wealth from which we truly give and with which we leave here, from history. Because here we must enrich ourselves in God, to enrich ourselves in His will[2].
What did the Lord tell us about life in today’s Evangel? He told us: „If you want to enter into life [εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωήν], keep the commandments [τήρησον τὰς ἐντολάς]!” [Matteos 19,17, BYZ]. God’s commandments. Because through them we enter into ghostual life, into the life with Him. With other words, the Lord does not tell us that life means living randomly, as you want, but that your life means doing His will. Because only through His commandments do you truly live, do you live humanly, because His will is our true life[3].
His commandments are our life. But the young man „went away sorrowful. For he had many possessions [ἀπῆλθεν λυπούμενος· ἦν γὰρ ἔχων κτήματα πολλά]” [Matteos 19, 22, BYZ]. And his heart was attached to his possessions and not to the commandments of God. For if he had fulfilled His commandments, he would have immediately renounced them, because His commandments fill us with true love for God. But if you cannot renounce riches, you cannot renounce your passions either. Because we passionately love the transitory and cannot live ghostually[4].
But the best thing is this: to behave towards our wealth as if we did not have it. That is, to use as much as is necessary and not to make an excess of having it. Because the excess is always against us. In the same way, you can have multiple knowledge, but you must not use it against your neighbor. Rather, what you know must be for your own good and for the good of all. Because God wants us to transform our wealth and knowledge into a communitarian good, into a good for all. For in this way we praise God through our life, because we use it in a good way, for the good of all[5].
And who can be saved?, asked the Lord’s Disciples [Matteos 19, 25, BYZ]. And His answer was this: With God all things are possible [Matteos 19, 26, BYZ]. Because He strengthens us all in the life with Him and makes us real workers of His commandments. For the salvation is not an idea, but the life with God. That is why, with God all things are possible, because He, living with us, fills us with His glory and with all good will. And, with Him, it is possible, everything is possible. But the man cannot escape from Hell without God. For only with God do we save ourselves[6].
For this reason, living with God means always waiting for His mercy. And that is why salvation is His gift to us, His living together with us and not a human achievement. Because we do not want a life and an eternity without God, but a life and an eternity with Him, because He is our eternal life and fulfillment. Material and spiritual goods are for here, to live our lives in peace. But our wealth is in our soul, it is His glory and the good that we have done. And we go to the Lord with our soul, waiting for His forgiveness and mercy with us, because we do not believe ourselves worthy of anything good[7].
Therefore, my beloveds, the almsgiving is our wealth! The doing good and the godliness are our wealth. If we love God and our neighbor, then we have life in us, because we fulfill His eternal commandments. And His commandments save us, because they fill us with His eternal life. Amin[8]!

Amin!
